Born and Raised in Las Vegas

I'm a Las Vegas native, born and raised. My parents taught me what hard work really looks like: up at 4 a.m. for work, and not home until 9 p.m. My dad was a truck driver who helped build parts of this valley. My mom was a nurse helping the elderly in the valley. Those examples stuck with me, even though it took me a while to understand why.

A Wake-Up Call

After high school, I didn't have much ambition. Then Covid hit, and it changed how I saw everything. I wanted a better life for myself and for my family, and I wanted work that could stand up to a recession.

Learning It the Hard Way

I put myself through HVAC trade school, working in the mornings and sitting in class at night. I spent three years as an HVAC technician performing service and maintenance on commercial and residential units of every type. Those years included three summers in hot attics and on scorching rooftops. That work taught me that hard work pays, and it also taught me there has to be a better way to provide for a family.

Finding a Better Way

That search led me to the data center field. There I saw how much people and businesses depend on IT, AI and online services, and how much demand there is for people who can deliver them. So I learned to code through a software development course and bootcamps, in JavaScript, C++, Python and Ruby, because I wanted to build things people can actually use.

Building ApexUrsaLv

Today, Faith and I are building ApexUrsaLv, a family business based in North Las Vegas. We use modern tools, including automation, to stay organized and get more done, but the business itself is hands-on. Every partner deals directly with Faith and me.
